Tulare County will eliminate 55 positions in the Child Welfare Services division because of an unexpected $2 million to the Tulare County Health and Human Service Agency in state budget funds, Supervisor Phil Cox said today.

Of the 55 positions, 20 are vacant. The county expects that some employees in Child Welfare Services will be laid off but is trying to move as many as possible to other jobs. Affected employees with the most seniority will have the right to take the jobs of workers with less seniority.
