Veterans Day
Veterans Day, an annual American holiday honoring military veterans. A federal holiday, it is usually observed on November 11. On November 11,1918, the armistice signed between the Allies of World War I and Germany at Compiègne. In many parts of the world people take a two-minute moment of silence at 11:00 a.m. as a sign of respect for the roughly 20 million people who died in the war.This day also know by varies names in many countries like Armistice Day or Remembrance Day.

If this holiday occurs on a Sunday then the following Monday is designated for holiday leave, and if it occurs Saturday then either Saturday or Friday may be so designated,this is for more people to attend and participate in the events. Most schools, throughout the U.S. usually hold assemblies on a school day prior, with various presentations recognizing teachers and staff members who served in one of the five branches of the United States Armed Forces, as well as remembering the U.S. troops who died in past and present wars, and some patriotic music by a school choir, band and/or orchestra, including songs from a musical used as a tribute to the troops.
